Description

We were required to do design a fairy tale book cover for illustration in our chosen art form. I choose art Nouveau and was inspired by Alphonse Mucha's "Seasons" panels and turned it into a book.

Each panel represents the princess's journey into the forest to have their secret meeting with their dancing princes. This panel the youngest is looking back because in the story a knight that is following them with an invisible cloak accidentally steps on her dress.  More trees represent the deeper they are in  the forest. Also the boarder around each panel starts to darken every three panels to represent the transition from day to night. The last princess is dressed in gold and there are golden leaves above her to represent a golden tree they come across in the story.

The silver dress and matching tree are meant to highlight that point in the story when the knight stops to take supervenes of is tracking.  The last princess stops by a body of water where she will be met by her Prince. By this point all the trees are gold because they have made it to their lovers, their feet dance upon red and white rose's that represent pure and passionate love. If you noticed effect I tried to create to also build contrast among each character. The first princess has black hair and a white dress. The last princess has white hair and a black dress. The same goes for the second princess and the second to last princess one has dark green hair and a light green dress and her counter part has the reverse. As their hair gets lighter their dresses get darker and movements become more flirtatious. This shows their difference in maturity and their excitement as they get closer to their dancing mates!
